Artistic Journey : Street Photography & Graphic Art
Next to being a photographer I work as a multidisciplinary artist.
In my spare time I shoot the streets of Brussels and I work on graphic art.
The streets of Brussels
First of all most of my spare time goes to street photography.
The art of street photography, shooting the unexpected, unposed realities alone or in a group with students. I just love it.
More Multidisciplinary Visual Art
As a trained artist, I have a second life alongside photography. In this parallel practice I often rework my images into new pieces. I explore this through etchings, screenprinting, and sometimes by developing sculptures and small-scale installations that give my photographs fresh physical and conceptual dimensions.
Down here are some of my latest works and exhibitions but you could also visit my personal website 100% dedicated to my personal work.
Art Biënnale of Brussels
I was honored to be asked to organise the second art biënnale of Brussels. Why fly to Venice if you're already in Brussels?
The themes Venice and Shame were announced in 2023 to a group of artists.
ART Biënnale of Brussels 2025
10 (inter)national artists worked on the Pavilion of Belgium, in Brussels, calling themselves La Belge Absurdité.
Due to the political situation in the USA and in Brussels the second Biënnale of Brussels was canceled. The raw works of the different artists were shown in a 3 day exhibition in the heart of Brussels, in the studio of sculptors at RHoK Academy.
The artist statement can be read at my artist website.
GENES
This video uses AI to animate ancestors' photos, blending history with digital art. For the last 20 years I did research on my family tree. This genealogy work resulted in finding loads of stories and images. For this work I projected made in 2022 (the start of AI use in photography) a series of images that were 'revived' by AR to living people.
The projection is on a curtain that covers a painting of a tree on tens of posters I got from my neighbour. She collects all posters of cultural events she visits throughout decades. It honours their legacy while creating a personal, timeless visual story that connects past and present.

Reinventing photography
Reinventing photography with analog methods like chemigrams and non-toxic chemistry blends tradition and innovation. These tactile techniques ditch digital ease, creating unique, unpredictable images digital can't match. Chemigrams combine painting and photography on light-sensitive paper without a camera, sparking creativity, while non-toxic chemicals keep it safe and eco-friendly.
This revival honors photography’s roots and pushes its limits with a playful, mindful approach to storytelling.

Student film. Sander preparing an exhbition
Film student Jochem expressed a genuine interest in Sanders’ artistic endeavors and wanted to create a captivating short film showcasing the essence of what he does. He accompanied Sander throughout various moments, capturing footage in his art studio, attending classes alongside him, and documenting a memorable visit to the picturesque city of Oostende with his students.
The artist in Sander
With two artist friends in Woluwe I share an art studio called Neue Grizzley, and I also share an analog photography lab (darkroom) with three other photographers from Brussels.
The lab is called Co’Lab and it’s on the VUB/ULB university’s Ur’square premises in Ixelles.
You can discover the analog photography Co’Lab on Facebook and on Instagram and you can find tickets for lessons and open printing nights in the webshop.
In addition to these artistic pursuits, I am completely immersed in the fascinating worlds of genealogy, art, and artificial intelligence.
I also dedicates time as a volunteer in several organizations, and find immense joy in sailing and biking.
My goal in life is to maintain a balanced and fulfilling life by getting around by bicycle as much as possible, and I prefer to limit myself to one or just a few meaningful jobs each day to stay focused, productive, and genuinely happy, so I also have plenty of time to spend with friends and family.
