Venice in late June is hot, crowded, and utterly brilliant for street photography —if you know where to look and how to shoot.
Forget the postcards. This exclusive, small-group workshop is about finding the raw, unscripted moments of human life in a surreal city.

As a professional photojournalist and educator based in Brussels, I’m hosting a one-day-only intensive masterclass in Venice. A short interview before the workshop, and a one hour online review of your work after the workshop is included in the workshops.
We will use the harsh summer light, the chaotic crowds, and the quiet back alleys to push your visual boundaries.This is not just a street walk. sander will show you all his ins and outs of street photography and guide you personally through his street photography tricks and ethics.
To ensure personal guidance and a low profile on the streets, spots are strictly limited to 5 photographers per session.

1. The Morning Session: "Venice Awakening" (07:30-11:30) Before the cruise ships dock, the real Venice belongs to its workers. We start at first light to capture the city waking up. The Focus: Documentary street photography. We will hunt for quiet narratives—the delivery boats navigating the canals, the market vendors setting up, and the locals claiming their space. The Skill: Anticipating the "decisive moment," working with soft morning light, and approaching subjects ethically and confidently. Includes: 4 hours of guided shooting, on-the-spot feedback, and a mid-morning espresso break for a quick portfolio review. Price: €195
2. The Afternoon Session: "Shadows & Chiaroscuro" (16:30 – 20:30)
As the afternoon sun drops, Venice turns into a high-contrast theater of light and deep shadows. This session is about visual impact. The Focus: Aesthetic street photography. We will avoid the tourist traps and use the intense summer sun to abstract the crowds, hunt for silhouettes, and play with the geometry of the narrow calli. The Skill: Exposing for the highlights, framing complex scenes, using the 'fishing' technique (waiting for the right subject to enter your frame), and shooting discreetly in busy environments. Includes: 4 hours of guided shooting, creative assignments, and ending with a classic Venetian aperitivo (drinks included) to review our best shots of the day. Price: €195
The Full Immersion: Master the Streets (Both Sessions)
Want to experience the complete spectrum of Venetian street life in one day? Join me for both the Morning and Afternoon sessions.
You’ll have a 6-hour break in the middle of the day to rest, recharge, and edit your morning work while avoiding the brutal midday heat. Includes: Both 4-hour sessions (8 hours total), coffee, aperitivo, and a deep-dive review of your work. Price: €350 (Save €40)
Colors
Though I mostly advise to shoot in black and white, the colours will be in your RAW file.

Whether you shoot with a Leica, a DSLR, a mirrorless camera, or just your smartphone—it’s your eye that matters, not the gear.
