We dive deeper into the world of portrait photography. We’ll also work with real models, and between the workshops you will have time to work on an assignment at home.
Photographer Sander de Wilde is known for his intense portraits and reports. He photographs for international media and works on his own projects. He has been teaching for years and his workshops are fun, educational, dynamic and original.

Workshop 1 — The Basics of Portraiture: Light & Composition
Objective: Understand light, composition, and connection with the subject.

Types of light: natural vs. artificial
Direction and quality of light
Framing & composition
Working with the subject: communication & posing basics
Workshop 2 — Controlling Light: Using Reflectors & Simple Flash
Objective: Learn to shape and control light.
Theory:
Reflectors and diffusers
Using a single speedlight / flash
Balancing ambient light and flash
Workshop 3 — Expressive Portraits: Working with People
Objective: Directing and interacting with subjects for emotional impact.

Building rapport & trust
Posing for expression, posture, mood
Using movement and spontaneity
Workshop 4 — Editorial / Storytelling Portraits
Objective: Create portraits with context and story.

Using environment and objects
Visual storytelling in a single frame
Planning an editorial shoot
Workshop 5 — Studio & Advanced Techniques
Objective: Studio lighting basics and advanced portrait styles.
Theory:
One-light and two-light setups
Controlling shadows and highlights
High key / low key portraits
Creative portrait techniques (blur, texture, reflections)
What to bring:
You own a mirrorless or dslr camera, compact or analog camera.
You’re not an absolute beginner in photography
You already tried to work on your RAW images.
You don’t work in P, and you already understand a little of aperture, shutterspeed and focal length.
