Hands-On Photography lessons in Brussels

photographer and teacher in Brussel Sander next to a screen with a portrait of a man while doing a photography workshop

My photography classes are ment to be fun and have a steep learning curve. This is how I would like a photography class to be myself.

I believe in learning by doing, so expect these course to be hands-on photography workshops every lesson!

In every photography course the basics of photography comes back, tailored for your level If you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, my workshops will always inspire you to reach new levels in your photography practice.

How the photography courses are designed

The classes in Brussels are mostly at GC Elzenhof in Ixelles. I work with Wecandoo, Avansa, and Sasasa photo schools to teach photo lessons in French and Dutch. I offer private 2-hour sessions, half-day workshops, and longer courses lasting several months.

Check the photography course list for info on all photography workshops.

Starting dates photo classes agenda

  • I strive to create class environment where participants feel inspired and empowered to explore their creativity. Ultimately, I want each student to walk away not only with improved skills but also with a newfound confidence in their photographic journey.

  • My workshops always start with action! I don’t like to do the introduction round with you students. We will get to know each other using photography.

  • All courses start with the basics of photography. History and Exposure.

Finding the right exposure for your subject is very important so why not start with that.

  • Secondly I focus on composition. Every person has this sense of composition build in, but getting all that info in one lesson makes every photography so much better in one lessons. When your images follow certain rules, editing your images will get much easier too.

  • But do bring your camera for every lesson too, because next to theory, I think it’s very important to touch and use your camera every lesson, even at night. So fill up those batteries and empty those cards, because most of the workshops exist of 70% hands on exercises, and 30% theory.

  • After a few lessons you’ll feel that you’re entering the photographic arena at another level. All courses end up with some sort of exhibition, be it a projection of the students’ work or a real exhibition with prints of your work on the walls of a exhibition space.

  • We also do one time Master classes on several issues, like flash photography, corporate shootings with phones, etc.
