Magrafica Exhibition Opening: Democracy in Focus

aankoniging Magrafica expo met Tom Lanoye

How do contemporary artists view and depict the concept of democracy? What does freedom mean today, now that the space for resistance seems to be shrinking? How do we deal with a democracy under pressure? Which images from the past help us to better understand the current zeitgeist?

You are warmly invited to the festive opening of Magrafica – Democracy in Images, featuring a unique recital by Tom Lanoye and spoken word by the Brussels-based Outspoken Collective.

Following Tom Lanoye’s reading and the slam poetry, the Magrafica – Democracy in Images exhibition will be officially opened with drinks and refreshments. Magrafica, an initiative of the Masereel Fund and various partners, invited artists to engage in a visual dialogue with democracy – through free graphic art – in the spirit of Frans Masereel. More than 70 artists submitted a total of 130 works. A selection was made from this rich harvest, which can be viewed at TRACK Brussels from 26 April to 3 May.

Come and listen, and be inspired by words and images that question and strengthen democracy!
